The police in Lilongwe are looking for some people who ransacked and stole copper wires from Electrical Supply Corporation Of Malawi (ESCOM) transformer at Mlale farm in Mitundu yesterday.
Lilongwe police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu said this happened just a few days after the transformer stopped working after being struck by lightning.
ESCOM was informed about this and promised to install another transformer at the site.
The organization was in the process of installing another transformer at the site, some unknown people removed the transformer and cut all the wires.
Currently, the hunt for the perpetrators is underway.
