The Phalombe First Grade Magistrate court has granted bail to six people accused of fraud related cases of recruitment of health workers by Phalombe district council.
The six, who were arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) on Friday last week, appeared in court today’s afternoon to take plea of their charges which they pleaded not guilty.
The first accused, George Ramundi, a clerical officer at Phalombe district council has been charged for soliciting an advantage . It is reported that Ramundi solicited K200,000.00 from a person to influence her recruitment in the ministry of health.
While the second accused, Kesten Willie Chokani has been charged for aiding a person to commit an offence as it said that he aided Ramundi to solicit the said money.
Other four, Mayamiko Custom, Florence Antonio, Sarah Phiri and Dorothy Mussa are answering charges of uttering false documents(MSCE and JCE certificates) during the interviews
