The High Court in Blantyre has thrown out the preliminary objections raised by Norman Chisale to stop the hearing of the forfeiture application as the state is pushing to seize Chisale’s assets worth K5bn.

Later, Chisale’s lawyer, Chancy Gondwe applied for an appeal to the Supreme Court and a stay of the matter which were both quashed by Judge Anneline Kanthambi for lacking merit.

The Judge has since set 17 to 18 December, 2024 to hear the Forfeiture application.

State lawyer, Pirirani Masanjala says they plan to parade four witnesses during the next hearing.

On his part, Gondwe has described the ruling as a grossly unjust decision saying these are some of the decisions that shock the conscious of laypeople and that he will appeal the decision.
