Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Ntchisi South Ulemu Chilapondwa has accused the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of failing to look after the mausoleum of late Bingu wa Mutharika.
Chilapondwa said this during Parliamentary deliberations currently underway at Dedza Stadium which is presided over by Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara.
In his speech Chilapondwa said the mausoleum is a sorry sight as it is surrounded by overgrown grass.
He has called on DPP members to start making contributions towards taking care of the mausoleum before they can start thinking of running government.
Chilapondwa said DPP cannot develop the country.
Recently the cultural grouping asked government to take over Bingu’s mausoleum but the Mutharika family is reluctant on the matter.
Bingu died in 2012 while serving as Malawi President.
His death led Joyce Banda ascending to the high office.
