Germany government has maintained its interest to foot the expenses of an expatriate who will be monitoring government payment system –Integrated financial Management system -IFMS.

Ministry of finance had last year said will recruit a team of monitors of the modified system to provide some guarantee of protection –six months after it was revealed that some civil servants were tampering with it to make it misbehave.

However, ministry of finance’s spokesperson Nations Msowoya said the process has been delayed to some extent as his ministry is still waiting for Germany government to finalize the documentation process following its interest to foot the expenses of the expatriate.

“As of now we are still waiting for Germany government to complete the documentation process as because the specialist will be paid by Germany.” Msowoya said

However, Msowoya who described the move as a relief to Malawi government said his ministry on its own has since last month recruited the junior staffs who will be jointly working with this expatriate.

Meanwhile, Msowoya has expressed satisfaction on how the ministry has managed to restore the public finance management system which was completely shut down for a while just before the budgetary support was frozen by the donor community
