United Transformation Movement (UTM) spokesperson Felix Njawala has distanced himself from a letter notifying former Secretary General Patricia Kaliati of her firing from the party.

On Tuesday, social media was awash with a letter purportedly issued by Njawala indicating that Kaliati has been dismissed from the party over her recent conduct.

The letter citied Kaliati’s recent outburst as the main reason for her firing.

But Njawala distanced himself from the letter.

“It has come to my attention that a fake letter purportedly issued in my name is being circulated. This letter, clearly designed to mislead the public and divert attention from real issues, is the work of desperate individuals who have chosen dishonesty over integrity.

“I want to categorically state that the letter in question is not mine. The tone, language, and overall presentation are vastly different from my writing style. The childish and unprofessional nature of the statement is evident to anyone familiar with my work,” wrote Njawala.

He added: “This practice of fabricating documents and attributing them to others is not only unethical but also harmful to public discourse. It undermines the principles of truth and transparency that are essential for building a just society.

“I strongly condemn these actions and urge those involved to reflect on the damage they are causing. Resorting to lies and deceit is a sign of weakness and desperation. If you have concerns or issues, let us address them honestly and constructively, rather than hiding behind forged statements.”

Meanwhile, Njawala has urged party supporters and Malawians at large to disregard the letter in totality.
