Minister of Homeland Security, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma, says investigations are underway into the violence that occurred during the demonstrations organised by the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) in Lilongwe on Monday.

Ng’oma said while citizens have the right to demonstrate, they have to observe and respect the rule of law.

He further said that his ministry is working together with relevant security agencies to ensure that the country is safe and peaceful.

The minister has since urged the citizenry to remain peaceful while police are conducting their investigations.
