Former Member of Parliament for Mwanza West Constituency Paul Chibingu has dumped the United Transformation Movement (UTM) with the immediate effect.

Chibingu has since joined the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ahead of the 2025 polls.

Former President Peter Mutharika has welcomed Chibingu who once served as Minister during the reign of DPP at Thambani Ground where he is conducting whistle-stop tour.

Mutharika was welcomed at Thambani by some DPP top officials led by Secretary General Peter Mukhito, Francis Mphepo and Regional Governor Charles Mchacha.
