Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East Constituency Sameer Suleman has accused first Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo of deliberately blocking him in the August House for political reasons.
Suleman said this after being suspended from the August House for five days after allegedly disobeying Parliamentary standing orders.
“The August House is not for Malawi Congress party (MCP) or Madalitso Kazombo. I came here after being elected by the people from my constituency and not on President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Kazombo’s ticket. I have information that some government top officials recent held a coccus where they agreed to block me and some top officials from DPP and i stood in the house to prove that,” said Sulemani.
According to Suleman, he stood up in the August House to question the rationale being President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s trip to United Arab Emirates to procure fuel.
“Chakwera is travelling to Dubai to inspect some of the houses the President has bought in that country and not the fuel purchase as claimed. We have the information and turning to the suspension i will serve the ban but i will come back,” said Sulemani.
