Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested three men for attempted robbery and endangering the safety of people travelling by road along Jenda-Embangweni road in the district.

The three, Mathews Nyirenda 28, Lazaro Sindani 20 and Edwin Nkhaya 26 attempted to rob from a moving Police vehicle MP2677 during the night of November 30, 2024 near ZCCC offices.

It has been established that Jenda Police detectives were on their way conducting intelligence driven operations and when they reached at ZCCC camp offices the three jumped infront of the car and attempted to throw a stone like object at the vehicle.

When the driver stopped, the three run away after realising it was a Police vehicle but they were chased after and got arrested.

One of the suspects had a toy gun in his possession during the arrest.

The three are believed to have been targeting moving vehicles to steal from them along Jenda-Embangweni road near ZCCC camp offices.

The suspects have been charged with attempted robbery and endangering the safety of people travelling by road and will be taken to court upon completion of paper work.

All the three suspects come from Mzimba district.
