Former United Democratic Front (UDF) Vice President Lance Mbewe has joined the United Transformation Movement (UTM) ahead of the 2025 polls.

Mbewe was welcomed into UDF ford during a rally organized by UTM Vice President for the South Richard Makondi on Saturday at Magomero, Chiradzulu.

Speaking after joining the party, Mbewe said he has joined UTM as one way of honouring the soul of late Dr. Saulos Chilima who died in a plane crash on June 10, 2024 in Chikangawa Forest.

Mbewe said he was the best friend of Chilima.

UTM Secretary General Willet Kalonga said the party will organized a special rally where President of the party Dr. Dalitso Kabambe will be available to welcome Mbewe.
