Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) Member of Parliament for Mzimba North Yeremia Chihana has called for the immediate resignation of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for failing to deal with challenges locking the country such as fuel shortage and forex scarcity.

Chihana said this when commenting on the Bill number 29 of 2024, Liquid Fuels and Gas (Production and Supply) Amendment Bill.

In his contribution, Chihana asked the second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Aisha Adams to suspend the deliberations of the house and invoke parliament standing orders to allow President Chakwera to resign, saying if he is allowed to continue ruling the country there will be more mess.

Standing on point of order leader of the house Richard Chimwendo Banda quashed Chihana’s remarks describing it as baseless.

“I will not waste my time commenting on the statement made by the honorable member for Mzimba North because whatever he is say is empty and also come from someone whose head is empty,” said Banda.

On her part, Aisha Adams asked Chihana to follow proper procedure on his motion.

Meanwhile, Parliament is into division.
