A mysterious disease has claimed the lives of more than 79 people in the southern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
According to the BBC, the illness has been causing symptoms such as severe headaches, body pain, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and anemia. The DRC Ministry of Health reported that most of the fatalities involve individuals aged between 15 and 18.
Currently, more than 300 people are exhibiting symptoms of the disease. Health officials have been dispatched to Kwango Province, where the outbreak is most prevalent, to investigate and provide medical assistance to those affected.
Authorities are continuing efforts to identify the cause of the disease and contain its spread.
