Renowned Malawian female artist Tuno, celebrated for her hit songs and bold statements, has expressed frustration over persistent criticism from the public, stating she does not understand why many seem to dislike her.

The artist’s remarks followed a wave of online criticism after photos of her outfit at the African Print Party event held over the weekend at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre circulated on social media.

Many criticised her attire, by saying she wore an artificial hip-emphasising outfit as inappropriate.In response, Tuno Made a post one her Facebook page, writing, “Many Malawians seem to hate me, and I don’t understand why. Let me rest in peace I don’t eat your food, and my dressing doesn’t disturb your peace. Let it inspire you. One day, post something good about me. Hip means waist, doesn’t it? You village people.”

The mother of one further added, “Do you think your insults will make me stop dressing up, recording music, or affect my relationships? I only thank you for the blessings you unknowingly bring to my life because God loves me. He is my judge, and He will never abandon me. I wish you all healing.”

Tuno’s statement has brought mixed reactions in the comment section, with some supporting her stance while others continue to debate her outfit choice and body shaming her.
