The police in Lilongwe have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of breaking and stealing cement bricks from the M1 road at the Amina roundabout.

Lilongwe police spokesman Hastings Chigalu said the police found Fatsani Raphael, who lives in Area 23 at around 3 am with a friend who ran away.

Mr. Chigalu said that at that time the police were doing their job of tightening security by traveling in the areas by car, and they found the two parked a Ractis car as if it had been damaged but they were loading the bricks into it.

When the other suspect saw the police approaching them, he said that he turned on the speed and disappeared, but Mr. Chigalu insisted that they will continue to hunt him.

Raphael comes from Ntanda village in Zomba.
