A grand pass-out parade was held today at the Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) Parade Ground in Salima District to celebrate the graduation of 784 Malawi Defence Force (MDF) recruits.

The recruits, who began their training on May 29, 2024, successfully completed six months of rigorous military preparation. Among the graduating soldiers, 120 are women, while 664 are men, showcasing the MDF’s commitment to inclusivity and gender balance.

The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Defense, Harry Mkandawire, and attended by General Paul Valentino Phiri, the Commander of the Malawi Defence Force. Both dignitaries praised the recruits for their dedication and hard work throughout the training program.

Minister Mkandawire commended the soldiers, saying, “The nation depends on you to uphold peace and security. Your training has equipped you to serve with honor and professionalism.”

The event featured a display of military skills, drills, and a colorful parade, marking a significant milestone in the lives of the new recruits and reinforcing the MDF’s mission to protect and serve the nation.

Families, friends, and other dignitaries gathered to witness the celebration, making the occasion a memorable one for the soldiers and their loved ones.
