Two more people die in Nkhata-Bay road accident

Three people have died, and one has sustained serious injuries in a fatal head-on crash at Four ways just before St Maria Gorretti primary school as you are going to in Nkhata Bay town.

Nkhata Bay Police Publicist Kondwani James said the accident happened the night of Thursday involving a motorist (Kabaza operator) who carried two passengers on a non registered motorcycle and a Honda Fit motor vehicle registration registration number CP 10232.

“I can confirm that the motorcyclist died on the spot of the accident and the two pillion passengers a male and female were pronounced dead upon being taken to Nkhata Bay District Hospital while the driver is receiving treatment’,he said.

According to James, an angry mob have since burnt the vehicle, and police have bemoaned the tendency to cause more damage during such accidents instead of rescuing the victims and rushing them to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the police are establishing the cause of the accident, and more details will follow.
