Police in Kanengo, Lilongwe, have arrested two men in connection with the theft of various items, including firearms and a motorcycle belonging to a police officer.
According to Kanengo Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira, the suspects, identified as Henderson Mitengo and Chimwemwe Kadam’manja, are believed to have committed the crime on the night of November 9, 2024, alongside Phillip Zagwa, Matiyasi Tobias, Josiah Mangani, and Elisa Kachitenji.
Ngwira reported that the stolen items belonged to Officer Phillip Kanyinji, who works at Chiwamba Police Post in Lilongwe District. The robbery occurred while Officer Kanyinji was on his way to the post.
The arrest of the two suspects comes nearly a month after police apprehended the other four suspects and recovered the stolen firearms.
Mitengo and Kadam’manja are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the robbery. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
