In Zambia, Four people have died in a road accident that occurred around 17:00 hours on Sunday in Malashi area along the Great North Road, approximately 4 kilometers north of Mpika Boma.
The accident involved a Scania truck and trailer and a Toyota Hiace. According to a police report, the driver of the Toyota Hiace, a 34-year-old male from Tazara township, Mpika, lost control of the vehicle while overtaking another vehicle.
He collided with the oncoming Scania truck and trailer, resulting in fatal head injuries.
A female passenger in the Toyota Hiace also died in the accident, succumbing to fatal head injuries sustained during the collision.
A male juvenile pedestrian, who was walking on the right side of the road, was hit by the Toyota Hiace after it swerved to the right following the collision with the truck.
He died instantly due to fatal head injuries. Another person, whose identity has not been disclosed, also died in the crash.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Mpika Urban Clinic mortuary.
