Police in Blantyre have arrested Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mulanje Bale Victor Musowa for allegedly proposing violence.

Police National Deputy Spokesperson Harry Namwaza says Musowa was summoned to South West Region Police Headquarters where he was cautioned and arrested.

“We have charged him with proposing violence at an assembly contrary to section 87 of the penal code following remarks he made at a rally in Ndirande,” said Namwaza.

Meanwhile, Musowa has appeared before Blantyre Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court today where he has been formally charged and has applied for bail.

The court is expected to make a ruling on the bail application this afternoon.
