Police in Dowa have arrested four men and one woman for stealing 61 bags of soy flour from the Mount Meru Millers factory.

Dowa police spokesperson Alice Sitima said this happened at midnight on January 6, 2024.

Mr. Sitima said these people are employees of the Mount Meru Millers Company, namely Alinafe Maliseni, 25 years old, Elliot Charles, 24, Pickson Longwe, 41, Wakisa Napolo, 24 years old; and Moses Ng’ona, 43.

“According to the director of security at the factory, Mr. Francis Zingunde, a well-intentioned person told him about the plan of people suspected of stealing from the factory and Mr. Zingunde informed the police who were assigned to guard the factory,” Mr. Sitima said.

The train also said the police found 61 bags of soy flour worth K5,000,000 (5 million kwacha). Of these, 34 bags had already been released outside the factory fence, waiting for their partners to collect them.
