Police in Lilongwe have added murder charges to a 32 year-old man identified as Thomas Gwero Phiri, who was initially arrested for grievous harm.
According to Kawale Police spokesperson,Precious Mavuto Phiri, Gowero is now facing murder charges after the death of Lameck Kunyengana, a trader he allegedly stabbed during a dispute.
It is reported that he two shared a residence. On December 8, Kunyengana reportedly asked Phiri to manage his shop in Area 24 for a day.
The disagreement arose over payment when Kunyengana offered K10,000, which Phiri refused, demanding more. The argument escalated, and Phiri allegedly stabbed Kunyengana in the abdomen.
The victim was rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Monday while receiving treatment.
