Police at Kafukule at Mzimba District, have arrested three Ethiopian nationals for allegedly entering Malawi without proper documentation.

According to Kafukule Police spokesperson Masiku Manyungwa, the arrested individuals are Mubarike Temen (27), Salamuni Aman (18), and Tsekede Girma (18). The trio was intercepted in Nashoni Village, under Senior Chief Kampingo Sibande, following a tip-off from community members.

Manyungwa stated that villagers reported seeing a Ford Everest vehicle, registration number BW 7323, carrying foreign nationals in the area. When confronted by the locals, the driver of the vehicle allegedly injured one of them before fleeing the scene, abandoning the Ethiopian nationals.

Upon arrival at the scene, police managed to apprehend the three Ethiopians. Investigations revealed that the vehicle belongs to Thomas Simbeye, who has also been taken into custody as investigations continue.

The police have assured the public that they are intensifying efforts to address issues of illegal entry and ensure the safety of communities in the district.
