Police in Mulanje District are searching for suspects involved in the brutal murder of a 36-year-old woman, Annie Lajab, whose throat was slit in Limbuli Tea Estate Forest while she was collecting firewood.

Mulanje Police spokesperson Innocent Moses confirmed the incident, stating that Lajab left for the forest on Wednesday to gather firewood but never returned home.

Concerned family members launched a search and discovered her lifeless body in the forest with her throat slit.
Moses revealed that while medical examination is yet to confirm, initial indications suggest that Lajab might have been sexually assaulted before being killed.

Annie Lajab hailed from Maliyera Village, under Senior Chief Njema, in Mulanje District.

Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help in apprehending those responsible for this heinous crime. Investigations are ongoing.
