The High Court in Lilongwe has scheduled February 12, 2025 for mediation in a case where Judge Kenan Manda is seeking K250 million in compensation from outspoken lawyer Alexious Kamangila over Facebook posts alleging that the judge engaged in fraudulent conduct.
According to a notice of mediation which Nation Online has seen, the session is set for 11:30 am in Judge Semion Mdeza’s chambers.
In civil cases, mediation is the initial step where a judge hears both parties to explore potential compromises and determine if the matter can be settled at this stage.
If mediation fails, the case proceeds to trial under a different judge.
In October last year, the High Court issued an interlocutory injunction restraining Kamangila from making, writing, or publishing any statements about Judge Manda until further notice.
