Malawi Congress Party (MCP)is set to  launch both its manifesto and campaign for the forthcoming tripartite election on 6 April in Lilongwe.

MCP President Dr Lazarus Chakwera said the launch of the manifesto as well as the campaign launch will take place at Masintha ground.

Chakwera said the party’s manifesto centers on  boosting agricultural sector cognizant of the fact that  the country’s  economy is agro-based.

“The MCP-led government  will wage war against corruption in all forms  and will endeavor to eliminate corruption  by establishing clear ‘performance criteria’ and benchmarks’ by which government spending  will be regularly audited and validated  by independent auditors .

“In addition to this , the MCP- led government will design and implement efficient systems of monitoring  the allocation  and utilization of all resources so that possible irregularities can be detected at an early stage  in the project  or programme cycle. This will help government  to reveal the existence of fraud and corruption”, reads the manifesto.

MCP which is looking for a comeback  after being out of power for 20 years will be the third party to launch its manifesto, the first one being the ruling People’s Party (PP) followed by United Democratic Front (UDF).
