Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Presidential torchbearer Dr Lazarus Chakwera in the forthcoming tripartite  has called for a review in Mining laws for the country to benefit from the sector.

He said this yesterday evening at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC)  during a second Presidential debate organized by  Malawi Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter.

“The problem in Mining and Energy sector emanates from the week laws that govern this sector, making it not beneficial to the country. There is need to review the laws and make Malawians involved in this sector”, he said.

Concurring with Chakwera was Kamuzu Chibambo of PETRA who proposed for transparency in how foreign companies are awarded contracts.

Out of the 12 Presidential candidates contesting for high office 11 attended the second debate.
