The country’s Vice President Khumbo Hastings Kachali who recently endorsed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Presidential torchbearer  Peter Mutharika  has denied joining the party, saying he is still the ruling People’s Party (PP) member.

He said this in an interview with local daily paper on Wednesday.

“I resigned as an executive member of the party [PP] and I am currently an ordinary member. If the PP wants to expel me, it’s up to them”, said Kachali.

Kachali further argued that it is not only him who is supporting the candidate from the other party.

When approached for comment, PP acting Secretary General, Paul Maulide accused the Vice President of playing hide and sick games.

Kachali started to shun PP just after President Banda dropped him as a running mate in the Tuesday’s tripartite elections.
