Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has disclosed that the body has registered a decrease in the number of voters  in the final voter verification exercise ahead of tomorrow’s tripartite elections.

MEC chairperson Maxon Mbendera said this over the Weekend at Mount Soche during a media briefing.

He said the final figures stands at 7,470,806 from 7,537,548.

“The variance is arising from arithmetical errors in compilation of the final total registered in some centres. In most centres the figures were higher than the actual registered,” he said.

Mbendera also pledged to make the details of how the voters roll has been conducted to all political parties.

Meanwhile MEC has dispatched the 24 million ballot papers to all district and councils ahead of tomorrow’s tripartite election.
