As Malawians go to the first ever tripartite election tomorrow, reports indicates that Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has suspended Lilongwe Chief Executive Officer Mr Richard Hara and Lilongwe District Commissioner Mr Charles Kalemba as presiding officers.

The development comes barely hours after angry mob in Lilongwe deflated the city car for allegedly being involved in the distribution of ballot papers.

The car with registration number Bp 523 was not among the authorized cars to be distributing ballot papers.

The angry mob suspected the car of carrying already marked ballot papers for President Joyce Banda.

According to the report, the two are linked to the rigging practices that are alleged to be happening in the Lilongwe Civic office.

Opposition political parties have on several times questioned the credibility of the forthcoming tripartite election as it has been marred by numerous irregularities with all hands pointing at President Joyce Banda and MEC.
