The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced that it has postponed elections to tomorrow, May 21 2014, in thirteen centers across Malawi.

Speaking at a press conference this evening at the national tally center in Blantyre at the COMESA hall, the chairperson of the commission Maxon Mbendera hinted that as a commission they had decided to postpone the elections in the thirteen constituencies to tomorrow 10 a.m.

MEC has indicated that they are aware that the situation might influence votes but they have no option.

Meanwhile the chair of the commission as well has indicated that for those who voted earlier in areas such as Ndirande and had their votes destroyed by an angry mob will not have such a privilege of voting again.
