Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Peter Mutharika who has taken an early lead in the unofficial results of the tripartite elections currently underway has spat fire at President Joyce Banda accusing her of attempting to rig the elections.

Speaking to the press this evening, Mutharika indicated that she knows the tricks that President Banda is playing that are meant to intimidate him but Mutharika indicated that he would not be threatened by the PP leader in whose hands the government is being taken from as the unofficial results show.

Mutharika has addressed the press at his house in Nyambadwe, Blantyre, where he is awaiting the official release of the results.

Said to be the front-runner in the polls that have been marred by many irregularities Mutharika voted in his home district of Thyolo yesterday.
