Don’t say die until bones are rotten the saying goes. Unofficial result in the first ever tripartite election in Rumphi East indicate that Kamlepo Kalua has worn the Parliamentary seat in the district.

This is the first time in the political career  of former Malawi Democratic Party (MDP)  President  who stood on People’s Party (PP) ticket.

Kalua was famous during the one party era and during the United Democratic Front era where he frequently criticized the leadership without fear.

Kalua has scooped 3646 while his main challenger got 2923.

Meanwhile Enock Chihana of Alliance for Democracy (Aford) has returned his seat as Member of Parliament for Rumphi Central.
