Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader Lazarus Chakwera who is in a tight race for the seat of Presidency attempting to outsmart Peter Mutharika who has taken an early lead has indicated that he is ready to accept defeat if the results are not in his favour.
Chakwera was speaking at a press briefing he had in the day with his running mate, Richard Msowoya in Lilongwe.
Despite acknowledging that the polls were marred by various irregularities Chakwera indicated that he was ready to accept the results.
Chakwera assured his supporters to keep the faith as counting was still underway despite him being shown to be trailing Mutharika. Chakwera said that even if the clouds hinder the sun it does not mean that the sun is gone and that it will resurface.
