Police in the Eastern region are hunting for unknown thugs who killed Walli Ali, a watchman at Namwela Trading Centre in Mangochi.

Ali, 46 was working as a watchman at December Anusa.

Mangochi Police Public relations Officer, Inspector Rodrick Maida confirmed of the development.

“While patrolling the area a group of other guards discovered that unknown criminals cut off a wire fence and entered into the premises of Anusa and broke into the shops and went away with clothes and other items worthy K640,000,” Maida said.

The police publicist added that the security patrol also found the deceased body tied with nylon strings in the neck, arms and legs lying dead.

Postmortem results conducted at Namwela Health centre showed that Ali died of suffocation.

Ali hailed from Nyambi village in the area of Traditional Authority Jalasi in the district.
