Malawi will on June 19 organise a day-long national community energy conference in Lilongwe, to mobilise communities and individuals to support the energy policy which seeks to promote renewable energy solutions.Community Energy Malawi National Coordinator Edgar Bayani said Wednesday, that the conference is the first of its kind in Malawi which will focus on opportunities and challenges relating to securing access to renewable energy technologies.

“We hope this conference will contribute significantly towards the energy policy development process as well as open up opportunities for Malawi to benefit from the United Nation’s Sustainable Energy for all,” he said.

He said the conference will bring together community groups, energy experts, voluntary organisations and official bodies outline the future for community energy in Malawi.
