Just less than a week after being sworn in as President of the republic, President Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) already has his eyes set on the 2019 elections.

Remarks by the DPP leader in at least two occasions have exposed him as one who is not just thinking of fixing the country’s broken economy but as well as one who is thinking of the DPP and him extending his stay at the helm of the government.

On his arrival in Lilongwe on Wednesday from Blantyre where he had been sworn in and inugurated, Mutharika told the crowds that had come to welcome him that the DPP would as well sweep the seats of parliamentarians in the 2019 elections and win with a landslide.

Yesterday, June 6, at a dinner organized in honour of former Zambian President Rupiah Banda, Mutharika as well urged Mec to start preparing for the 2019 polls.

This critics have said is an indication that Mutharika is obsessed with power and others have warned Malawians to be wary with Mutharika.
