Barely a week after the country’s President Professor Peter Mutharika called upon opposition political parties to come forward and help him in rebuilding the country, some opposition political parties have reacted positively to the call by saying they are ready to meet Mutharika.

In his speech at his inauguration ceremony held at Kamuzu stadium last Monday, Mutharika said the act of rebuilding the country’s economy is not an easy one and it demands collective effort  and he therefore called on opposition political parties who battled with him on May 20 tripartite election  to help him.

The first party to react to the call was Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Dr Jessie Kabwila who said  the party is looking forward meeting the President since the party want to hear from him regarding the plans he has for the country .

PP and UDF also concurred with Kabwila by saying ‘time for election bitterness is gone and its now time to take the country forward’.

At the moment only  five political parties have showed interest to meet Mutharika and these parties includes: MCP, UDF, PP, People’s Progress Movement (PPM),  and Malawi Forum for Unity and Development (Mafunde).
