The newly elected Member of Parliament have been urged to take deliberations in the August house seriously if they are to take the country forward.
Acting Clerk of Parliament Roosevelt Gondwe made the call during the opening of a three day Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) post-election Seminal held at Bingu International Conference Centre.
“Members of Parliament need to take the country to greater heights through the greater common good, which means taking parliamentary deliberations seriously,” siad Gondwe.
He said MPs should scrutinise content and implementation of policies and actions of government of the day to promote accountability and transparency, stressing “Malawians are looking forward to your service and to your protection within your constitutional mandate”.
The seminal was organized to equip the newly elected Member of Parliament with the skills on how to conduct themselves in Parliament.
Meanwhile members of Parliament are expected to start deliberations on Tuesday next Week.
