The Business Committee of Parliament has dissolved a bloc formed by Independent Member of Parliament, saying the grouping is not recognized in the standing orders of Parliament.
Speaker of Parliament hounarable Richard Msowoya made the announcement yesterday afternoon during deliberations.

“The business committee has resolved that independent members cannot be recognised as a bloc but individual independent MPs. Individual members are therefore being asked to submit to the office of Speaker on how they want to be seated in the house,” Msowoya read out a communication.

But Interim leader of the grouping Harry Thomson vehemently protested against the decision taken by the Business Committee of Parliament and he vowed to continue fighting for the formation of the group.

The number of Independent MPs which was 52 is slowly declining as some are defecting to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) while others are defecting to the opposition Political Party especially Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
