Malawi’s First Lady Gertrude Mutharika has disclosed her plans to form a trust in which she is going to work with former female Members of Parliament.

Malawi’s First lady revealed this on Saturday during a luncheon where she hosted former female members of Parliament at kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

Mutharika said that her trust is at the moment at foundation level and refused to shed more light on the institution.

Addressing her fellow former MPs, the First Lady said the purpose of the gathering was to take a breather after a hectic campaign in which more women lost elections. Mutharika told the women that there is life after Parliament.

“Now is the time for women to work together even more in preparation for 2019,” she said.

Making a brief appearance during the lunch was President Mutharika who encouraged the former MPs to keep busy with developmental work in the country even outside parliament.
