Following the fracas that erupted during election of Blantyre City Mayor at Blantyre Civic Centre last week, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has suspended eight of its Youth Members for perpetrating the violence.

DPP supporters dressing in party garments were involved in running battles with police officer protesting for the absence Louis Ngalande on the list.

This has been disclosed a letter signed by the southern region DPP governor Ben Chidyaonga and the party’s Organising Secretary Henry Matemba, which shows that the eight youths have been suspended effective 15 July, 2014.

The eight youths are Peter Mawelanga, Angella Malikebu, Lucius John, Edith Chikandula, Nelson Lamus, Pilirani Mzungu, Robert Banda and Emmie Banda.
