Lilongwe Magistrate Court has ordered the release of Businessman Oswald Lutepo, prime suspect in the plundering of Public resources at Capitol Hill dubbed Cashgate scandal unconditionally.

Lutepo was arrested on Sunday in Kasungu due to the complaint he launched to Attorney General in a letter that he was forced by government officials by then to give false testimony under Oath in Court. He has since been charged with perjury.

His lawyer Oswald Mkupira told the Court that his client should be released on bail considering the fact that he was already on bail on “more serious matter”.

State prosecutors did not object to the bail applications.

Magistrate Chisomo Nkosekela ordered Lutepo to be released unconditionally as he is already on K50 million (US$125 000) bail bond.
