Residence staying around Lilongwe Tsoka market had a rude evening on Tuesday as fire burnt down the market destroying properties worthy millions of Kwacha.
Stalls and property were burnt to ashes.
Central Region Police spokesperson Ramsy Mshane confirmed of the development in an interview and he said police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Few weeks ago it was Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) warehouse in the same region and the fire raised controversy between the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) due to the fact that, the fire destroyed the disputed votes for Lilongwe South East Constituency.
MCP Candidate Ulemu Msungama who lost the election by 98 votes went to court to challenge the victory of DPP Candidate Bentry Namasasu and the Court ordered for a recount.
Despite government assurances that it will institute investigations on the fire that gutted Mzuzu Market, Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) offices in Lilongwe, MEC Warehouse and now Tsoka market nothing seems to happen on the ground.
Meanwhile Malawians are still keenly waiting to find out the truth on the recent cause of the fire outbreak.
