Blantyre Magistrate Court ,Principal resident magistrate Innocent Nebi has thrashed three people to 15 years Imprisonment with hard labour for allegedly stealing a vehicle belonging to Namiwawa Private School.

The three are, Mustapher Munthali Katona, 26, Charles Isaac Banda, 24, and Fredrick Maseko, 22.

In his ruling, Nebi expressed worry of the conduct of the three, saying the conduct is scaring investors who would like to conduct their businesses in the country.

“Your conduct is scaring investors because people are not safe to conduct their businesses. I, therefore, sentence you to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour”, ruled Nebi.

It is reported that on April 29 2014, at about7.30pm, Joseph Wirima, proprietor of the school, went to check on security set-up considering that it (school) has been facing robberies during school opening.

When Wirima reached the school, he hooted at the gate, but no one opened it. When he went to open it, the three pounced on him, tied and pushed him into his vehicle, registration KU 3043.

He was dumped at the bush near Mapanga on the Blantyre-Zomba Road.

The three changed the vehicle’s registration to and put it on sale in Mangochi at a cheap price, creating suspicion among people who reported the matter to Mangochi Police.
