Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has vehemently criticizes President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for continuous use of Private jet, saying the move is costly.

MCP Parliamentary Finance spokesperson Joseph Njobvuyalema said this in an interview with the press.

“Chattering the whole plane just for a trip from here to South Africa and again from here to Zimbabwe is a complete waste and according to MCP, we call it senseless extravagance.

“We want to know where the money being used to charter the plane is coming from, how they realised it and if it was meant for chattering the plane; he said.

Since President Mutharika ascended to the high office on the May 20, the Head of State have had two International trip and in all these trips he has been using Chattered plane.

His late brother, Bingu Wa Mutharika bought a President Jet in 2009 and various stakeholders including donors blasted the move.

Three years later, when former President Dr. Joyce Banda ascended to the high officer after the death of late President Bingu Wa Mutharika sold the plane claiming that the Jet was anchoring huge cost.
