Malawi President Peter Mutharika has finally replaced ambassadors in 5 diplomatic Missions which has seen Thoko Banda, son to one of Malawi’s finest politicians, the late Aleke Banda, appointed to head a diplomatic mission in Brussels. Aleke Banda drummed up support for president Mutharika when it mattered most hence being part of the regime. Dr Ntaba, DPP’s vice president for the central region has been appointed ambassador in UK, replacing Bernad Sande. Relative to President Mutharika, Dr Charles Namondwe is heading back to China where he once served as an ambassador during the Bingu regime before being sacked by Joyce Banda after she took the reins of power following the death of Bingu Wa Mutharika in 2012.
Roka Mauwa is heading to South Africa as Ambassador as Fraser Nihorya appointed Consul General in RSA.
Brian Bowler, who is believed to have been the DPP propagandists together with Bright Malopa, Allan Ntata and James Woods-Nkhutabasa, has been appointed United Nations ambassador. But Ntata and Woods are yet to be recognized for their role though some people surrounding Mutharika are doing everything possible to prevent them from being recognized and Face of Malawi understands that this is due to some people surrounding the president who are telling him that their loyalty to the party is questionable as in they used to give sober advise to the president during the Campaign period which was interpreted by some as being rude and not loyal to the President.
However, inside sources still indicate that James Woods will still be appointed First Secretary to the UK embassy to serve alongside Dr Ntaba whereas Allan Ntata debate is still underway to have either him or Alexious Nampota, to be appointed Director of Anti-Corruption Bureau.
