The government says it’s decided discuss on amending the Pension Act when it meets for the Budget Meeting of Parliament which will commence from 1st September.

Speaking in an interview to Leader of the House Francis Kasaila said “One of the bills that will be tabled in the budget meeting is an amendment bill to the Pension Act

And that the Cabinet has already given a go ahead to the tabling of the Bill,” Kasaila said.

According to Kasaila the amendments to the bill aims at improving smooth implementation of the act and that it will provide room for reform to Public Service Pension Scheme.

“It also addresses the issue of facilitation, licensing and registration of Pension Funds,” Kasaila said.

He further confided that the meeting will be punctuated by usual question time and ministerial statements, one of which will be a statement from the Ministry of Energy, which was not delivered in the house in the June meeting.

“More bills may be added after approvals in a cabinet meeting scheduled to take place this week,” said Kasaila.
