Malawi Police Service (MPS) on Friday sent about 20 officers to Darfur in Sudan for United Nation peace keeping mission.

The officers will replace another group which returned to Malawi in December last year and they are expected to be in Sudan for a period of 12 months.

Speaking before the officers departure on Thursday at Police Headquarters in Lilongwe, Inspector General of Police Loti Dzonzi urged the police officers to conduct themselves in a professional manner and preserve the good image of the country.

Dzonzi also disclosed that another group of 20 police officers will join the officers in two months time.
