Police in Mulanje have arrested six people for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old imbecile girl.

Mulanje Police spokesman Inspector James Kadadzera confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspects as Blessings Malambo 25, Master Kasito 20, Thomas Pemba 20, Innocent Khola 18 and two others are minors.

Kadadzera said it all started from where some men were burning bricks and later set up a music system to dance.

“It is alleged that the girl (name withheld for ethical reasons) came and she started disturbing the disc jockey (DJ) while pushing the speakers and six men volunteered to escort her home,” said Kadadzera.

He said on the way, it is alleged that the men defiled her one after another and the girl reported the ordeal to her parents upon arrival.

Medical examination conducted at Mulanje District Hospital established that the girl was indeed defiled.

The suspects will answer charges of defilement.
